Rouenneries Deux Giveaway

Here we are...doing it all over again! After our first Moda fabric collection, Rouenneries, was such a wonderful surprise, we thought....why not do it again? We've picked out the best prints and added a handful of new designs all in classic shades of juicy reds (Penny's description), faded reds, dusty hemps and tea stain - with a bit of blue and grey touches thrown in to freshen things up. We've even added a cheater cloth - a patchwork design using some of our favorite prints.
I'm getting a little ahead of myself, since Rouenneries Deux won't be in quilt shops until March 2012.... but, thanks to Moda, I have a handful of precuts that I would love to giveaway - so you can get a head start on your favorite Rouenneries projects. If you worked with the original Rouenneries, released in Fall 2009, you know that this collection of fabric is perfect for quilts, clothing and home accessories. For just some of the beautiful projects designed using Rouenneries, look here.
Leave us a comment with your name and if you like, tell us your favorite second time around story. You'll be entered in our drawing for one of four bundles of Rouenneries Deux. Isn't it always better the second time around?! Bonne Chance!

  5. Oh I'm so excited to hear about this new fabric collection! I think my second time around story has to be how I picked up cross stitching for a second time after years of not stitching. Now it's about all I do. I want to get back into quilting again though. Then I'll have a second time around with quilting too. lol!

  6. I am absolutely thrilled to hear there's going to be Rouenneries Deux!! I am just about finished the Drunkard's Path quilt I've made using Rouenneries and was actually feeling sad that I was almost finished working with those glorious fabrics.
Second time around story? I started doing a little bit of embroidery after years of not doing any and found I quite liked it as a bit of a break but quilting is my absolute favourite.

  7. wow. as hard as i have tried to have a bit of each collection by the time i got wind of French General, Rouenneries was nowhere to be found. i am so glad that it's back...

well, second time around...i've lost a tennis match in the finals of a tournament to this one guy, Scott Nicholson, and i will have my chance at him again this weekend at the Home Depot center. so let's hope this second time around story has a happy ending!!

My second time around in marriage was the best thing I've ever done with my life!

  9. Love the new fabric. I really don't have a 2nd time around story, except maybe sewing. I sewed everything, since I was 8, then after sewing my daughters prom and formal dresses, I just stopped. 15 years later, I started quilting.

This is my FIRST time around with Rouenneries, but the fabrics are awesome, and I love, love, love red. Second time around - I'm 40 years older than my daughter, so "second childhood" is an apt expression. It's really fun the second time -almost more fun than the first!

  12. That first line was the absolute best and I have always been sorry I didn't buy more before it was gone! I am so excited it's coming out again! Who would have thought? I made a Schnibbles pattern with Rouenneries so if I make something else out of it, that would be the "second time around!"

  13. OMG this is exciting news. I have made two quilts that I absolutely love from this fabric and have many more in mind. Awesome! I would love to see this fabric ahead of time. Yes I would love a second time around with this fabric - in a minute! Thank you for the opportunity to win.

  15. Love these colors and need to sew a quilt. Second time around-gave up sewing clothes after spending too much money and getting poor fitting clothes. Came back to sewing 5 years ago when I decided it was easier and more fun to quilt.

  18. Rouenneries was released before the quilting obsession settled into my psyche, so missed the first time around. Hope to win so do not miss it the second time around in March, and can actually make a Kool French General quilt! Thanks for the chance. The closest quilt shop carries mainly batiks so would have to locate/order online. mlwright29(at)hotmail(dot)com

  19. Oh boy, Oh boy. Since I'm a new quilter when I started reading blogs and understanding collections, I was just barely able to grab some Rural jardin (wich I had just grabbed a fat quarter set not long ago) It had been impossible for me to get a hold of Rounneries so I'm more than anxious to get a hold of this collection. My second time around at this moment is bringing son number two to university and just as heart breaking as the first time :(---- :)

As for '2nd time around', I think these lovely fabrics would be perfect to use on my second quilt, which will also incorporate some embroidery projects I've been working on! 35. FG are my favorite Moda fabrics...it will be hard to wait until next year! (Or maybe I won't have to...) I'm noticing that embroidery on clothing that is lately popular is much like what I embroidered on some of my clothes in the 70's!

  37. So excited! 2nd time around? I bought a new car that I adored and foolishly traded it. When I realized the error of my ways, i wished out loud that I'd never gotten rid of my car to the dealership. Just so happened that they had one come in used that was identical to mine. I jumped at the chance to buy it and found out as I was signing the papers that it WAS my car that I'd originally bought. :)

Great News! Tournesol is a beautiful design.
Second time around X-mas.(every year we have a theme: key lime C, Fine feathered C ) This was a brown paper X-mas. We were all to give re-gifted or recycled presents. Even the gift tags were collages of scraps. No-one was disappointed. This year will be a Woodland C. (I think French general C. would be great too!)

  53. What great idea, to release this amazing collection... It will be difficult to wait until March.
My second time ? There's no doubt: sewing; I hated it when I was younger and my mother forced me to do it... now, I can't live whithout it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm so excited to see this line again! I had so much fun with it the first time (as I do with anything French General puts out :) ).

My second time around -- when I gave up machine quilting completely and threw myself completely into hand-quilting again. I have never been happier.

    ReplyDelete
  55. This has to be my most favorite line of all time. I guess my favorite second time around story would be meeting my best friend and then being separated for years and years losing track of each other through various circumstances. Then one day in a store we ran into each other and have our friendship again - the second time around!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm so excited you are releasing this collection again! This is definitely my all-time favorite fabric line in a very long time. I recently bought two large comfy chairs in FG colors, but I don't want to do a lot of cleaning so for day-to-day use I bought yards of several fabrics in FR reds, cut long strips and pieced two sections. One goes over the back, across the seat and down the front of the chair. The other goes over the arms (with a section of muslin that goes under the cushion). They can easily be washed, look lovely and give the same feeling as the original fabric on the chairs. I also have precuts and yardage on my fabric shelf. One never knows when one needs a little FR in a project! By the way, this fabric line confirmed what I knew in my heart of hearts - I love RED. Shortly after the line came out I bought a new car - a red one! Shocked the heck out of my family!

  57. Oh my gosh! I can't tell you how excited I was to read this post. I have one jelly roll and some yardage of rouenneries and have been searching everywhere for a layer cake or charm pack to turn this into the gorgeous quilt that is in my head. I would love to receive one of your gifts! And my second marriage? Could not imagine a better life. I am truly blessed.

Rouenneries-my favorite collection in years...had a hard time locating the collection but with the help of my husband I opened up a lovely package on Christmas morning and there it was in all its glory! And that leads me to the second time around story. My husband and I married in my church in 1984. He is of Greek descent and we married again in the Greek church the day before our 1st anniversary. I guess the second time was the charm because we celebrated our 27th and 26th anniversaries this year! Thanks for the opportunity to receive this fabric.

  111. I missed it the first time, so very excited there is a second time around.

Hhmm. . .things better the second time around? Oh, started doing a cross stitch version of the Lord's Supper back in 1997. Gave up on it and restarted last year. MUCH better.

  112. Beautiful fabrics. I'd love to be able to make a prayer quilt with them and give it to a dear friend who always does so much for others.

I am so looking forward to Rouenneries Deux. The first line was simply stunning. For me, having a second child in the house was easier than the first. You gain so much confidence in your ability as a mother once you've lived through being a new parent. I anguished over so many decisions with my son, but when my daughter arrived, there was an ease and calmness to it all which made it easier to enjoy her as a baby. Thanks for the opportunity to win some fabulous fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I adore these fabrics and never had the chance to use any of the first line. I miss living in CA for the sole reason of not being able to frequent your shop anymore! :)
I suppose my second time around story would be a second surgery to try to fix a problem started several years ago. The first didn't work and I didn't have the ability to plan much or do my favorite thing (crafting). Now, I can live and plan and craft as much as I want, and for that, I'm truly thankful.
    Thanks for hosting the give-away!

  118. Lovely fabric. I loved it the first time around too, and still have a little bit left. Second time around...I'm knitting my second largish knitting project--a shawl for my mother--and, the second time around, my knitting stitches have really improved!

I absolutely love the reds!!I am so glad you're doing it again :) Second time around is sometimes even more fun! As I found out when a family tragedy turned me into a mom again. At 2 months old my grandson became my child....never had a boy so this was new territory. Being a single mom of a baby boy at 45 is a scary thought but we made it and he starts high school this year. Second time around mom was even more fun than first time :) SWarren

have a lot of good days with your loved ones..ciao from Italy!!

  127. I love my Sunday afternoon nap. It's like my 2nd-chance to catch up on sleep! And I've lost a lot with school starting back up!

You'd think I'd have more time to sew--but it just seems I using the time to clean and do laundry and never catching up with either item!

Love the re-release of Rouenneries! Fantastic!

  138. I am so happy that you are doing Rouenneries again! I have a quilt just waiting for it! My second time around story, finding love after divorce! I was married to my high school sweetheart. All told, we were together for 25 years! It took a few years to get back "out there" and it took some really bad first dates, but finally I think I found someone that I am so happy to be with. My mother was right when she said,"Things happen for a reason."

  142. I love the idea of another collection of the gorgeous fabric. Since I didn't get any the first time perhaps I will be able to do it this time. My second time around concerns my re-entry into the world of quilting. I have gotten back into quilting in a big way after not even attempting it for the past 12 years! My stash gets bigger by the day. This fabric would be a great addition!

  152. Pat Hammerstein3:53 AM

My whole patchwork quilting is a second time around pastime for me. The first time I tried it was when I first got married and decided to make a quilt by joining loads of hexagons out of scraps of dressmaking fabric. My neighbour saw what I was doing and just went “oh” in the tone of voice I felt meant it looked awful. That was enough to make me put it away and not try again for many years. When my daughter went travelling I discovered the Sampler Quilt Book and saw that I could make her a quilt using blocks which were relevant to places she was visiting. That sampler quilt kept me busy while she was away and I was so proud of it I have just kept going on many other projects since then, so it was second time lucky for me.

  153. I love, love, love the Rouenneries collection. I've been hoarding what I have because I want to find the perfect pattern for it. The reds in that line are so perfect. Thank you for a chance to win some.

I lived in France when I was child with my Air Force father and family. Everything was quite magical from the hard candy sold in real clamshells, to the snails on the garden wall. Second time around when I visited England and took the Chunnel to Paris for a day, about 30 years later! Still magical!

  170. Beautiful! So excited about this new / old collection!

My second time story: I've always dreamed of getting my pilots license and flying airplanes. When I was in college I was lucky enough to get to fly in a private plane and take a lesson. I was so scared, I could barely move and the licensed pilot had to take over. I was so upset with myself, but eventually I tried again and loved it so much. I am still working on getting my license, but I am so glad I tried again to achieve something that I love to do!

  171. love. love! these fabrics are calling my name! just beautiful. second time around....hmmmm, my husband (the farmer) is not one to "quit" on a garment too rapidly, so whenever his chambray shirts develop a worn place (hole) i pull out my needle and thread and give it a "second chance"...love to patch by hand, just love it, so i actually sometimes wish for a little hole! thanks for the chance...!

  172. Ooh, I'd love another opportunity to get some of this fabric! My second time around story is my second career, which I have started this year. Second time around, the hours and stress levels are MUCH lower. And the pay. That's a lot lower too. :>

  173. Second time around- making a new place in the country- with big thick shrub and tree borders and developing a dye plant sub theme. My first time around garden was bought with my house in June, and I think I miss the garden most, yet- this garden is going to be really fun to develop. I love the historical connection to gardens and french pastoral culture/dye traditions in the motifs and colors in your fabrics. I am finishing a rouenneries quilt with your pattern for my niece. I have loved evry minute of it.

Ten years ago I planted some lavender in my yard and discovered how wonderful it is. Then we moved and I couldn't grow anything for 5 years. This summer I planted a lavender garden with several different kinds of lavender. Just this morning I cut the second harvest of the summer, and I am in heaven! I love it so much more!

I love French General fabrics but especially Rounenneries. Would love to win some. As for second times around - I'm in the process of hoping I can have a "second-time around" with my guitar playing. I used to play the classical guitar but quit a few years ago because of arthritis and now I want to see if I can begin again. Will I remember what I learned before or will it be like completely starting over??? We'll see.
