Rural Jardin
Just received the samples from our new line, Rural Jardin, with Moda. Filled with shades of woad, chanvre and rouge this collection has some of the prettiest stripes and checks - many reproduced from 19th century French textiles. We named it Rural Jardin because many of the floral prints reminded me of the old French gardens I see throughout the South of France - the vines and fantasy flowers.
I've got all sorts of yardage in the shop now - so if you just can't wait till Spring 2010, pop by on a Monday and you can see the full line. I am getting ready to head to Houston for the Quilt Market this week where Moda will be showing all of their new Spring fabric collections. Most people go to market to sell their designs or show their product - I go just to see old and new friends - and for the Moda party! Moda puts on a grand soiree during market where they invite all of their designers and buyers - a good time is had by all. To celebrate our new collection, I'll send out a box or two of fabric samples - let me know what kind of striped summer project you might be sewing - and hopefully you'll get a head start! Merci!
It would be wonderful to win some of your fabulous samples. Oh, so many ways they could be used.
ReplyDeleteP.S.
I love,love,love the new store.
Same warm inviting feel and smell as the old store just airier and more open.
Have fun at the Moda party
Cari Bruno
Oh wow! I'd love to win some of your new fabric collection! I'm still waiting for my Rouenneries to come in. I'm so impatient! I wish I could come visit your new store, but I'm too far away. :(
ReplyDeleteI would love to include some of these fabrics in the applique medallion quilt I designed to show off your first line.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see them...and I am hoping to drive down this Sunday to come to your shop on Monday. Hopefully I'll be able to see the samples up front an in person!
Penny
I've got two bundles of your Rouenneries wovens and I would love to add red Rural Jardin wovens. What a beautiful quilt! I'll keep my fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteThose fabrics look awesome! I can just imagine a a quilt, pillows, pincushions - anything!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! I love the new collection! I envision a patchwork quilt that would be wonderful for summer pic nics and a huge tote that would carry all of the pic nic goodies. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win some samples! I have been teaching myself to sew by making tote bags and purses and I would love to make something out of your new fabric!
ReplyDeleteI recently discovered your work through the French Inspired Jewelry book and absolutely love French General. If only I lived in LA and could come visit the store!
Emily
I would put these in a wedding quilt for my son - a gentle way to include his Army connection with red, white and blue possibly in a nine patch pattern. The fabric is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI am wanting to accent my home with reds and these are so lovely, I just couldn't go wrong making anything from them. Thanks
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the picture the first thing I thought of was the beach chairs we had as kids - I'm thinking something beachy with maybe a kite! It looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI would probably stitch a fun summery bag to carry essentials to the beach or lake with that beautiful fabric. They are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLorrie
I just found your blog...I would be honored to win...I LOVE Moda fabric!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous textile collection! It is perfectly lovely in every way! How I would love to win some of the fabric samples to make into special gifts for those I hold dear -- I'm thinking fantastic totes for market going.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us all throw our hats in the ring whilst our fingers are crossed!
Would love to join on the trip to Chateau next summer! I am thinking about it...
Best,
Debbykay @ Rose Cottage Gardens and Farm
I will be starting a queen size quilt made from your Rouenneries fabric line.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have some of this new fabric to make a throw for the end of the bed. ;0
Those are really comfortable colors. I can't wait to make a bag, maybe mailman style, shoulder bag... I also want to make a quilt that every family member is going to love. Comfy blanket type. Binder cover with some applique and nested basket, etc...
ReplyDeleteThis new line is BEAUTIFUL!!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I talk often of the dream trip we will take one day to a quiet beach with ocean water the most beautiful blue ever! We would spend all day on this beach with our books, sun glasses and flip flops!! Of course we would need a great looking bag with a drawstring at the top to carry them in!! I can not imagine these in anything but the stipes in Rural Jardin!!
Lisa
i love the blue!! i can't wait to get my hands on some of this... i have a moda bake shop project with Rouenneries that just debuted today! i look forward to meeting you in houston!
ReplyDeleteyipeee
ReplyDeleteI was hoping your new collection would include some blues .... I have held back using the Rouennerries to sew some pillows for my living room sofa.
I have the fat q collection & charms, I have made a sweet market tote though .
I would love to be in the draw .
thank you ;-)
These are beautiful! I think that if I were lucky enough to win some of the fabric I would use it to make cushions for the terrace of our own French jardin.
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it, but those would make excellent British bunting for the Fourth of July or Bastille Day. Your new fabric lines are just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI would so love to win your fabrics...simply adore those comforting and familiar reds and blues...I would use them as backgrounds in my mixed media projects or shadow boxes...perhaps a great tote!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance!
Laura
Congratulations on your new line with Moda!
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for my Rouenneries to arrive in the post.
My striped summer project would be redecorating a bedroom to become my sewing room using your fabrics. I love soft shades of red and blue and they would be perfect for the atmosphere I would love to create.
I can't wait to see more of the floral prints. They would be glorious accent fabrics to my striped room!!
Thank you for offering such a wonderful chance to use your fabrics!!!
Have lots of fun in Houston. :)
Hmm, pillows? Antigue looking Christmas banner? Christmas presents waiting to be sewn?? I think so. They look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNew grandbaby on the way so of course there will have to be a quilt! The new fabric collection looks like it would be perfect for this project!
ReplyDeleteThose stripes would go lovely in my son's room! He has a nautical-ish room in my French Country home...so I can't think of anything more perfect than those stripes :)
ReplyDeleteoh good gravy!!!
ReplyDeletei am SO in love with rouenneries.
i just know i'm gonna love rural jardin too!!!
{that blue print on the top certainly caught my eye.}
Greetings from the other side of the World. I could easily imagine your new range used in a glorious, subtle quilt made from blocks of stripes cut on the diagonal, forming a random chevron design. It would have a scrappy binding made from random off-cuts of the same stripes. Thank you for your inspiring blog and website. Penny
ReplyDeleteMagnifique!!
ReplyDeleteThe new line is going to be at least as gorgeous as Rouenneries. I love the air that it transports ~ exactly what you told you had in mind designing these.
I'd sew some seat cushions for my "square inch garden" (aka mini balcony), new pillow covers for the sofa (gasp - I still have some I bought at IKEA!) & a little simple quilt to lay on top of my antique chest.
Have fun at Quilt Market ~ please, bring photos ;o)!
A backyard filled with glorious
ReplyDeleteumbrellas!!
Elissa
What word am I looking for???
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS!!! Your fabrics are my way of "traveling to France" ....
A huge "Thank You" for sharing your wonderful talents with us.....oh, I would love to have some lovely pillows and a throw for my porch this summer.
OMG!!! The colors and patterns are DIVINE. I can so see a pillow or quilt in my living room using these fabrics. I certainly wish I was close so I could come by for an in-person view, but rest assured I'll have it as a must see on my next visit to Cali. Keeping my fingers crossed that I will be the lucky recipient of this drawing.
ReplyDeleteI just want to unfold and fold them, restack them and look at how pretty they are on my shelf! Does that count? Sometimes I just buy fabric because it's beautiful and not because I ever intend to use it. I'm a 4th generation fabric ADDICT!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful fabric! I would use some to make a new cover for my laundry basket. I think I would also use some to make a fabric wreath. Pick me, pick me!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Crystal Burns
I'm thinking about making cushions for the deck at our lake house... I think I'd like to make a
ReplyDeletecarry-all bag as well. If fabric can bring me thoughts of summer, I'd sure like to win some!!!Here I am watching it snow - summer is far in the distance here in Montana! Jamie V

I'd love to win your new fabric! I'm thinking they would make super cute totes for spring/summer. Have fun in Houston.
ReplyDeleteJan (j.stacey@sbcglobal.net)
I would LOVE to win some of your fabric! I love it so and adore your website - I find it so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThe project I want to make is a cosy quilt for my living room. Winter is coming and I want something warm - yet stylish - for us to cuddle under.
Hilary.
Hi Kaari,
ReplyDeleteI am now in dire need of a new duvet cover-and your new line is just the motivation I'll need!
The photo of all your fabrics stacked high is such a lovely sight. I just want to run my fingers through all that fabric, it's so inviting!
ReplyDeleteI am determined to make a summer hat out of several of your designs. They are so beautiful and would look good for wearing in the garden or on a picnic.
ReplyDeleteWe bought a farm in the country and are building a barn which will include a small living space...am looking for lovely old and new fabrics to give the place soul...I think these do the trick! Can't you see it? so fun...beautiful line...please enter me and have a great trip! sstanley
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be wonderful to win some of your Fabric - your last collection is "Just soo French" and beautiful. This next line looks like it will take our breaths away like the last one. Pick me. Catherine from OZ
ReplyDeleteyes of course to win some of that incredible, touchable fabric would be wonderful. i love the reds and wish to start a small throw quilt for those cold winter nights and also to remind me of the summer heat with the red. i would be at your store if i lived closer who knows someday i may visit?
ReplyDeleteAwesome collection! That would make a wonderful addition to bed linens for one of the bedrooms in our new house!
ReplyDeletePillows! Pillows! Pillows! I love striped pillows. I'm also thinking a few coasters and napkins.
ReplyDeleteI love these colors.
I am going to make a picnic quilt and Rural Jardin looks just perfect for it!
ReplyDeleteI love Rouenneries! I am using it to make a quilt, table toppers and a wall hanging for my bedroom. You have such beautiful designs! Thank you!
OOOH, how beautiful this line is!( as they all are!) I would sew cushions for chairs and a quilted table covering for my Florida lanai. It's as close to France as I'll ever get! Enjoy the Moda party and market! Thanks so much! Debbie
ReplyDeleteI love the new line!! I think a wonderful little summer throw or a picnic quilt with stars would be perfect for this fabric!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love striped fabric and yours are wonderful! Your new collection reminds me of those great beach "chairs" my grandparents had, the ones that had fabric attached to the folding wooden frame and an attached piece of fabric which sat on the sand. We'd take them to Oceanside for our annual beach holiday.
ReplyDeleteI found some of those "chairs" at a yard sale and want to replace the old worn out fabric. I think the Rural Jardin stripes would be perfect for that!
~Marilee
I need to make my little boy something for his room since he know longer shares with his sister and all the checks and stripes are great.
ReplyDeleteKaari, I love your shop and want to live in a house filled with all kinds of things made from those gorgeous fabrics: curtains, throw pillows, a cute apron, hmmmm...a bedskirt. I would be so excited to make a few wonderful things from it.
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty. I see so many things. Napkins, pillows and table runners, these are perfect for my country french kitchen. Can't wait to get these.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide if I'd rather make some fun kids' clothes out of your samples, or if I'd rather make some pillows to spruce up the decor! I tend to go the way of kids' clothes since the kids see fabric come in and start pinning it up on kid-sized dress forms before I have a chance to tell them what I'd envisioned doing with it. I can just see some great boys' shirts out of the stripes, or some great matching skirts or ruffle pants for the sisters! Or hats -- gotta have matching hats when the fabric is just calling out to be made into something to show it off!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your style!
Those are just gorgeous!! I can envision creating heart sachets in time for Valentines Day along with larger pillows for the house. And tons of ideas to use them in mixed media collage!! Can't wait to buy in stores but winning is nice too!!
ReplyDelete: ) Have a wonderful time in Houston!
Susan
I would love to win some of your new fabric line. I see lots of summer skirts for my soon-to-be eight year old whose so leggy I have to make her skirts. Thank you for a chance at them!
ReplyDeleteMore French General Fabric! It's more than a girl can stand! Would love to win samples...I am playing around with a Tiny Tote...drawstring purse type thingie as a carrier for my daughter's GPS she is receiving for Christmas. She loves Reds.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! There are so many great ideas here, I wouldn't even know how to decide! I like napkins and table runner idea, maybe an apron! Or a Market bag. Would love to win them! Can't wait to check out the new store!
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to find nice stripes, and I adore every one of yours! I'd have to put them all together in a kimono and line it so I could enjoy having them with me while I crochet in my back yard--with maybe a little sashiko for accent. And then to be able to pass that garment down the generations--
ReplyDeleteThese look fabulous. I would be thinking pillows, pinchusions, totes and other things to match the first line that I am waiting for my fat quarter bundle. Thak you so much for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI love stripes, and yours are especially wonderful. I'm doing curtains, dust ruffles and pillow shams - when I can get my hands on Rural Jardin!
ReplyDeleteI will make summer totes and towels...an apron or too...and I am thinking some napkins would cool Thanks Lisa
ReplyDeleteWaiting still for my Rouenneries, so it's great to invision your new line. More fun! Those strips would makes some great home dec projects.
ReplyDeleteThe warm feel of these fabrics just makes me want to snuggle up in them.
These are SO pretty! I want to use one of those red stripes for valences in my kitchen. So, if I win, I could test them out on a toaster cover.
ReplyDelete--Vicki K
I'd use the soft, gentle reds to warm up my space at work. The stripes and checks would be crisp and clean as pillows on our shared charcoal grey couch - and some pillows would make it much more comfy :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great time at the Quilt Market - sounds like great fun!
a fabric canopy, anchored by some spindly substantial twigs with character! {inspiration found with Pam G blog post!}
ReplyDeleteLove your fabrics AND your books. Is there any better project than one that includes stripes AND florals. Those florals/tickings look perfect for a summer quilt that you'd use to curl up with on a cool summer evening in the "sleeping room" of a cottage. You know, the kind of room that has big screens that open out onto the water and you lie in bed and listen to the gentle lapping of the water as you fall asleep? Just a light cover to keep you warm ... yes, that's what these stripes would be used for ... a very special quilt ... I can see it in my mind's eye now!
ReplyDeleteFlatlander49 (Linda)
Love the new fabrics............I can see pillows, tote bags and of corse quilts in each and every one of them.
ReplyDeleteJill
I knew the new fabrics would be just as wonderful as the last. I could see making a new umbrella cover by using several of the fabrics as a patchwork of glorious color in my country garden. or even new chair cover with each one being different!!!!! or even piecing strip together to make new curtains for my rustic gazebo . Have fun with moda!!!! Julie Stout
ReplyDeleteI love all the stripes and checks - and the colors, of course if there is red in it it has to be great! When I look at it I first think of little boy bermudas, don't ask me why..of course my boys are getting a little too old to wear what I like. A quilt would be what I would make and it would most definitely have churn dash blocks in it. It is a great collection, congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI would make a string or two of banners to celebrate whatever! Love the fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI have recently taken a quilting class and would love to use my new skills on some of your beautiful fabrics.
ReplyDeleteooohh, i love this! nice!
ReplyDeletefor summer, i'd make a bag and matching throw to take to the park with my little guy!
Sample Delerium... Oh So Sweet & French... Totally necessary for Throws & Cushions to adorn my newly decorated French Provincial Family Room... I'm In Love !!!
ReplyDeleteYou are really riding the crest of a wave, practically EVERYBODY is raving about Rouenneries and have been since LAST quilt market. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the new line. Got to love a good stripe. Summer sewing? Not sure, but I like to make quilted objects, useful things, like bags, notebooks, cosies for stuff, so maybe a bottle holder to keep your drink cool in the heat of summer. Not that we get much heat in Scotland, but hey, you never know!
Cheers,
AJ
Hi - pick me. Am thinking of sachets, tea towels and some pillows in red and white/
ReplyDeletesummer and stripes- makes me think of the cottage at the lake and accents for the porch wicker.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous fabric line. I'd would love to win some. I would make some cushions, table wear .. oh the list is endless.
ReplyDeleteLove your ranges - waiting for some rouenneries.
Well done
i would so love to win and own some of your wonderful fabric ... if i were to win the stripe bundle, i would make kitchen accouterments,i.e., les serviettes, les rideaux, potholders, les serviettes de table, all types and kinds of kitchen wear! thank you for the opportunity to have this delightfully lovely fabric; my fave ...
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics are gorgeous. Trying to talk the hubby into a California trip so I can visit you store- I know that it will be amazing.
ReplyDeletePillows or maybe a lovely tote.
I would make myself a wonderful picnic quilt that would remind me of my university years in Paris. I LOVE the look of this new collection!
ReplyDeleteMarian
I can imagine so many wonderful things - - pillow, quilt, lamp shade the list goes on. Thanks for the opportunity
ReplyDeleteI think it would make a great beach bag. I love the Rouenneries line and can't wait for my local quilt shop to get it. I know they are getting tired of me calling to find out if it has come in yet.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this stack of fabrics! I'd love to sew them up into large totebags, the type with fabric gathered over stained or painted wood-dowels; hand-stitched embroidery panel; wide fabric handles coming up from the sides (so not to stress the wood-dowels).
ReplyDeleteYummy!
Inspires me in many ways.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Saw the post on Fatquartershop and your picture! I'm still waiting for my local shop to get in your fabric. Would love to be included in the give-a-way! I would love to have the fabrics for a table runner and tote! I also saw a quilt at NW quilting expo that was a favorite of mine and would love to make a similar one with your fabrics. It has a lovely old world feeling to it.
ReplyDeleteLaura T
These fabrics would be perfect on my back porch daybed! Lots and lots of cozy pillows.
ReplyDeleteWow! The new fabric collection looks amazing - and all my favorite colors. I can see some new pillows and a vintage patchwork skirt for my daughter!
ReplyDeleteI've visited French General at your previous location. Can't wait to see your new place the next time I'm in the area.
Oh how your fabrics would look in my new fabric collage projects!!! I would love to win!
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics look great! Our 4-year-old daughter is waiting for me to make a quilt for her. I love Rouenneries, but it seems impossible to get them (we live in Finland). The new collection would look great in my daughter´s birthday quilt too, if I can´t get Rouenneries anywhere!
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredibly gorgeous fabric collection! Congratulations on your new line. I'd love to be entered into your giveaway ~ Thankyou. Making a few seat cushions and liner for the picnic basket are some projects I'd use it for ♥
ReplyDeleteA summery quilt for our bed, I would use your Rouenneries range & Rural Jardin together, this would remind us of our few days we had in Paris 2 years ago. Alas here in Australia we are still waiting for the bolts of Rouenneries to arrrive in the shops...And sometimes we Aussies don't receive the full range! So it will be ages before we can touch & caress your new range Rural Jardin. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteLove your fabrics. Just got some of the Rouenneries and need to decide what I want to make. I've got lots of ideas brewing!!
ReplyDeleteI've been saving Souleiado's «Rose Denim», a reds & blues colored wallpaper to redo my home office. I've planned on using the Rouenneries, but now I will have to wait for the Rural Jardin fabrics--the two in combination will make beautiful pillows and a quilt to use on my chaise, as well as a pad and chair back slipcover for my office chair. http://the-scarlet-thread.blogspot.com/2009/10/rural-jardin-new-from-french-general.html

I'm a quilter...SO, I'm sure I will be quilting! I'm in love with your fabric, and this Tuesday my quilt shop will have the first fabric line. I've been saving my money, and plan to be first in line!!!
ReplyDeleteYour fabric is what I've been looking for and not really finding! Maybe I'll have a chance here... Merci.
ReplyDeleteI've been having great fun making blocks using your Rouenneries fabric for a variation on a Drunkard's Path quilt.
ReplyDeleteWith these gorgeous new fabrics I think I'd do something with the Winding Ways pattern. Love those gorgeous stripes!
I just love the colours of the fabric. I would like to use them for a quilt. Nice to put on the table and in the evening it can keep me warm when it's getting cold.
ReplyDeleteIn the Netherlands the evenings in summer can be cold.
Writing down this I suddenly get the feeling that I'm writing on an old message. So the giveaway will have been over.
Then I wish you all the best for this new year.
Hugs, Willeke
I am just starting a new project with Rouenneries and I like very much your new collection. I wish I win those samples.
ReplyDeleteSylvie
Oh sigh....
ReplyDeleteI would love to make my first quilt in the rural jardin range. gorgeous :)
Well ever since I first heard about the Rural Jardin wovens, I KNEW I had to get some soon to start a quilt for my son for Christmas, he is 16 and won't be in our nest too much longer :( I hope he will be though! anyways, that is what I would do with some samples! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI love the new Rural Jardin fabric. If I am a lucky winner I will use it to make a beautiful wall hanging for the beach house we rent. the colors are calming and lovely.
