Today is the kick-off day for the Moda Size Matters Blog Hop and Giveaway! This has been a long time coming...and I'm excited to start the blog hop on day one, along with Edyta of Laundry Basket Quilts and Brigitte of Zen Chic!
Our latest collection for Fall 2013, Josephine, is coming soon! Filled with our deep reds and pinks, rich browns, and naturals, the Josephine Collection is inspired by Napoleon's first wife, Josephine de Beauharnais. The first Empress of France was a lover of all things botanical and kept a rose garden at Chateau de Malmaison that rivaled the best English gardens of the time. For our Josephine Collection, we included beautiful old florals as well as fantasy florals and small petite prints - perfect for mixing into a quilt!
Last Spring, Lissa Alexander, Moda's master marketing gal, asked each of the Moda designers to chose a block to create. At the Moda Schoolhouse, we each stood up and presented our block, along with a story of how the block fit into the chosen theme: Size Matters. I took the theme quite literally...I made my block bigger....
and better.....
When I stood up to present my block, I told everyone I really thought that the point of the project was to make our block bigger - and better! Little did I realize that everyone else had a block that was actually useable...6x6, 8x8 or even 12x12. Oh well, my block was designed to be turned into a portable picnic blanket - complete with tie - so you can wear it over your shoulder as you walk to your perfect spot to picnic! That's Molly's Stella up there sitting on the blanket...she's always ready to picnic!
We've also designed a beautiful, large Flying Geese inspired quilt with our new collection, Josephine. Designed by myself and JZ, sewn by the talented Penny Tucker, and quilted by Cheryl Yamamoto...this quilt, as well as all of our quilts, is truly a team effort. As many of you know, designing quilts has not come easy to me...but this quilt seemed to flow...I loved the combination of the classic style and the ability to show off the fabric at the same time.
Order the Josephine Quilt Pattern Here
Over the years six years of designing fabric for Moda, I have learned that size really does matter! Once I settle on a theme for a collection, I go digging in my fabric archives for inspiration. I look for a couple of large scale prints, a few mediums and a handful of small, or ditsy prints. Being fairly new to the quilt business, I have learned how important the variety of scale is. Too many large prints and there is not enough depth or diversity - too many small prints and the design of the quilt can begin to lose itself. I am so thankful for friends and teachers that have helped me learn this along the way....it's been an important tool for me while designing collections and the accompanying quilts.
Thanks to Moda, I have a handful of giveaways to accompany this blog hop, as well as some cute Josephine Hankies, so go ahead and leave me a comment about your favorite size quilt to sew...is it a lap quilt, a baby quilt or something larger? Sofia will choose the lucky winners within the week and we will send out some prizes! Thanks for playing along and hope to see some of you in Houston!

Of course size matters - somewhere in blogland I saw a huge churn dash quilt!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite size to make is lap!
I love your BIG block! My favorite size is a lap quilt. It's much easier to quilt on my little machine.
ReplyDeleteI'm better at finishing lap size quilts if I'm hand quilting. But I like bigger quilts in general.
ReplyDeleteI just love a baby quilt. Just knowing that it will be cherised for years to come. Thanks for the hop.
ReplyDeleteI like to make all sizes of quilts, but most of the ones I've made over the years are lap quilts or wall quilts. I love your BIG quilt...it is spectacular! Right now I'm working on hand piecing a queen size Grandmother's Flower Garden...I hope to finish it over the winter. Thanks for the links to the blog hop.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't have a favorite size - I like lap quilts and bed sized quilts. In fact, I usually tend to go towards the full size quilts. I guess I like them the bigger the better. Love your block too and new fabric line.
ReplyDeleteI love a large lap quilt, nothing better than snuggling on the couch under your favorite quilt!
ReplyDeleteI guess my favorite size is basically a twin, but I call them 'couch quilts'. Perfect for the Sunday afternoon paper, football game and snooze on the couch.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size quilt is a twin/large throw...perfect for the couch during our Minnesota winters.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size is a lap quilt - very useful for anyone up here in Wisconsin to cuddle under in the winter. Thanks for the give away!
ReplyDeleteI make quilts in all sizes - from preemie quilts up to queen size. I don't make king size quilts, nope, not happening.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy making different sizes of quilts. I like wall hangings for small spaces, lap quilts to cuddle under while reading and lovely large bed quilts to sleep under.
ReplyDeleteI like to make all sizes up to king.
ReplyDeleteI've always made huge quilts but as I get colder and my husband gets warmer I find I like a smaller, lap or couch size that I can layer on top of just my side of the bed at night :)
ReplyDeleteYour big block is gorgeous. I make all different size quilts, but prefer throw size quilts for cuddling up on the couch, plus they're easier to quilt myself. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteLove your picnic quilt block. My favorite quilt size is 60" x 60" as I always have a quilt that size hanging on my living room wall. They get changed for the seasons or events.
ReplyDeleteI tend to make a lot of table toppers, but I still get the most satisfaction from finishing bed-size quilts.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to expand a block to a larger size.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to expand a block to a larger size.
ReplyDeleteI like working on lap quilts. Though soon, I want to do bed size quilts for all my kids and grandkids. Thank you for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size tends to be around 34 - 36" square -- a table top size. I have a bookcase built by my husband with a spot for displaying that size of quilt.
ReplyDeleteToo funny!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is a lap-size quilt - they're small enough that they can be a quick project but they're big enough to snuggle in!
ReplyDeleteMy first choice are bed quilts queen and bigger, but I do like during holidays to do banners or table tops thanks for the chance to win
ReplyDeleteI like doing smaller quilts like baby or lap size. I have found that as I get older my attention span gets shorter. In making smaller items I can finish them & that makes me feel good. Thanks for sharing and the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size quilts to make would be a wall hanging to lap size. They are easier to finish and fun to make.. I love changing quilts out for each season and holiday.
ReplyDeleteI like a smaller quilt, lap size or even smaller, so that I can quilt it myself without too many headaches. Love your big block as it's a great way to highlight those fabrics that you hate to cut up into itty bitty pieces. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picnic blanket! My favorite size quilt to make is lap sized. It goes together fairly fast but you can still wrap yourself up in it or take a nap under it :0)
ReplyDeleteI love everyone of your lines...they just keep getting better! Thanks for sharing with us!
ReplyDeleteMY favorite is the lap, because I use this size the most. What could be better than using or seeing someone use the quilt you have sewn with such love and care.
ReplyDeleteI like making a throw size quilt, great for snuggling on the couch with while watching tv or reading a good book.
ReplyDeleteI love your giant block! Most of my quilts are large lap or double bed size, or smaller things like table runners. And i love quilts that go together quickly, so your block fits the bill! Thanks you for the chance to win some goodies.
ReplyDeleteVery cute "big" quilt! I love stars! Thanks for sharing all the sizes with us. I like lap quilts the best. Easier to quilt on my domestic machine. But I am quilting a twin size right now. So it can be done! Thanks again- K-
ReplyDeleteI love you you thought "outside the box" and went bigger with your block. I love making smaller quilts that can be finished up in a short amount of time. So baby quilts, wall hangings, and tablerunners are my favorites. Thanks so much for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love quilts that I can put on my bed and use - our wall space is limited and I think quilts looks just wonderful, like beautiful artwork, when they are displayed on a bed.
ReplyDeleteI usually make lap size quilts and have one cut out in - French General fabric!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI love making wall quilts and crib quilts the most. They easily fit under my home sewing machine to quilt the top. Thank you for the wonderful give-aways!
ReplyDeleteI try to have the size of my quilt be large enough to wrap the recipient. And since I have some large friends and family (many over 6'6'") I have some work on my hands. Lots of love to stitch.
ReplyDeleteI do like your idea of large. I need to keep it in mind when making a baby quilt for my nieces, I have lots of them. The one large block would be a fun way to go.
ReplyDeleteI love making quilts that are more usable best, single bed size and up, you definitely feel more proud of them, right up until I get to quilting them, and then I remember all the back ache involved with trying to quilt something that heavy. So as I'm right in the middle of quilting a large quilt at the mo, I would say cot sized all the way.
ReplyDeletethe fabrics are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI make bed-sized quilts the most, so I guess that means I think the bigger the better!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size quilt to make is baby/crib size. Anything larger than that and I lose interest very quickly and into the UFO pile it goes!
ReplyDeleteI like to make bed sized quilts but also enjoy makeing lots of baby quilts for gifts.
ReplyDeleteI like to make larger sized quilts. I figure if I put that much time and effort into making one, it better be big enough to be appreciated!
ReplyDeleteStarla Peacock
My favorite is twin size. I have to get some "Josephine"! It's my middle name and my mothers name.
ReplyDeleteI am fairly new to quilting and have recently discovered French General and have fallen totally in love with your fabric collections. I love the rich colors and beautiful prints. I just wish I would have started quilting a few years back and could get past collections. I am looking forward to Josephine, just ordered a bundle from FQS, yeah! I like making bigger quilts that more than one person can snuggle in.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for a blog hop. I LOVE you fabric collections. I am always eager when you come out with a new one and have to run out and at least get a precut if not more. Keep up the great work
ReplyDeleteYour big block picnic quilt is gorgeous! I absolutely love it. What size quilt to I like to sew most? It's a toss-up between baby quilts and lap quilts. I love to give a personal lap quilt, but there is just something that captures my heart about baby fabrics.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size quilt is every one!!! So many inspirations out there to last a lifetime!
ReplyDeleteOh my what a big block you made. My favorite size is wall hanging. This varies as to what space I have available, some are larger and some are very small. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
ReplyDeleteI am partial to lap and baby quilts,
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size is a lap quilt, altho there's a lot to be said for small quilts, too - you can use tiny blocks and not drive yourself crazy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity!
Your quilt was fantabulous! Love it! My favorite size quilt is probably a lap quilt. We have small dogs (mini dachshunds) so if we have larger quilts in the family room the dogs get buried under them. With lap quilts we can have several on the couch and chairs, change them seasonally, etc. If you're really cold -- add another one!
ReplyDeleteI prefer making larger size quilts. Thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteI like bed quilts, small quilts and stuff in between. After making a big quilt, it's fun to switch to small.
ReplyDeleteLove all sizes
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size is a throw or large baby quilt. I can make them quickly and finish them without getting bored or distracted.I love to have finished quilts and not just UFO's (although I have plenty of those too).
ReplyDeleteI generally prefer making larger quilts but love them all. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteFavorite size of quilt is a lap quilt. Love to snuggle under quilts on the couch in the wintertime.
ReplyDeleteI love to sew baby quilts. The more complex the better. It is just so fun to make for wee ones :)
ReplyDeleteI like all sizes of quilts and love your fabric. Sandy
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size quilts are wall quilts or smaller. I would much rather look at my quilts hanging on the wall than any artwork that I would get tired of looking at. I love your fabric lines and look forward to starting a new project.
ReplyDeleteGrandma Rita
I love your big block quilt & plan to make one for a throw or to have in the car for unplanned picnics. I like to make small quilts, but end up making twin & queen size a lot for family members.
ReplyDeleteI like useful quilts. So far I have made over-sized lap quilts. The kids are tall and want to be covered up.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size quilt to make and give away is a lap size. For myself I tend to make wall hangings or bed size. Becky
ReplyDeleteI make all sizes - baby to king bed. Lately I seem to make the "sofa" size quilt so I can hang them in my living room. Thanks for the opportunity to win. :)
ReplyDeletesheila.fernkopf@gmail.com
I love to make lap quilts! They are the perfect size to snuggle under.
ReplyDeleteLove that in quilting one can do it, "my way, my size." The picnic quilt is perfect! I really don't have a favorite "size" quilt but I am more and more drawn to "square" quilts... Also, love the large flying geese and using that beautiful fabric as the center showcase. Sometimes, it is just soooo hard to cut up fabrics.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun!
I love to make baby quilts, because it means we will soon have the joy of a new life coming into our world.
ReplyDeleteI love to make Lap Size quilts.
ReplyDeleteLinda Lancaster
I'm glad to have found your blog; I can finally tell you how much I love your fabric designs!! LOVE THEM!!!
ReplyDeleteI love making quilts for my husband and son to wrap up in while they're watching TV!
Thanks for the giveaway!
I like to make baby size quilts because I rotate my quilts on the wall for an ever changing show.
ReplyDeleteI will make anything smaller than a queen size quilt - it is a matter of economics. I made an oversized King quilt for my son and it cost me $200 to have it quilted in a basic edge to edge pattern - and I was tired of the quilt when I finished - not fun.
ReplyDeleteI make art quilts, so size?...well they are just as big or small as they need to be! I adore the Josephine line, love those rich browns and reds together.
ReplyDeleteI love baby quilts because they are fast to piece and I can quilt them on my home machine! Plus, they are so much fun to give to the new moms!!! Ellie at sguhl@att.net
ReplyDeleteI tend to do better at throw size quilts (getting them actually finished!)However, larger quilts are more useful around our house. My boys are tall and they want throw quilts to be long enough to cover them up! So I really need to make queen size quilts. I'm hand-quilting one right now for my son's college graduation gift---almost a year late!
ReplyDeleteI love making lap size!
ReplyDeleteI like the baby quilt size best--I can finish them quicker. Love the big block.
ReplyDeleteLap size works for me, so I can learn new patterns and incorporate many fabric choices. Without fabric designers like you, my quilts would be ho hummmm!
ReplyDeleteI mostly make queen size quilts that have some applique in them. Thanks for taking part in the Moda Blog Hop.
ReplyDeleteI've been counting the days until Josephine is available! I love this line. I used to just love lap quilts but now I have two, no three, favorite sizes - doll, baby, and lap sizes are all favorites now that I have grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabric line!
ReplyDeleteI am more of a lap quilt kinda gal:)
I love lap quilts, because I quilt by hand they fit very micely on my lap as I make them x
ReplyDeleteHello,my favorite quilts to make are lap size quilts, or throws, for loved ones! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletemsstitcher1948@yahoo.com
Love your block!! I can't wait to use it in my favorite lap sized quilts!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size of quilt to sew varies. It usually is the size of whatever project I am currently working on. I like all sizes big and small and enjoy making little quilts to King sized quilts. The variety always is fun. Thanks for the give away! I liked your big block quilt, how fun.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a favorite size quilt to make. I make all sizes, but larger quilts do sometimes become tedious for me. Love your fabrics!! Thanks for the giveaway. I can't wait to see what Moda comes up with for the final assembly!
ReplyDeleteb.
I love your large block, it could have many uses.
ReplyDeleteI like laps or larger!
ReplyDeleteSince I don't have the space to sew and quilt a king size quilt my quilts are normally smaller. Lap or throw size are most of them sometimes twin.
ReplyDeletehildy(at)ebertzeder(dot)de
My favorite size is queen, but I make all size of quilt!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite quilt size is usually in between a twin size and a full size - I love to piece sampler quilts that usually have 12 blocks.
ReplyDeleteI like to make usable quilts for babies, throws for lap quilts, and Quilts of Valor. Thanks for the chance to win some French General!
ReplyDeleteI like lap quilts or crib size. These are price and time manageable projects. They are easier for kicking out for gifts as well!
ReplyDeleteLove how your block grew! Just goes to show how different we quilters can be. I love the rich reds & can't wait to sew a king size quilt for my bed using your beautiful Josephine. Actually I plan on decorating our bedroom with French General. Thank you for sharing your designs with us.
ReplyDeleteLove your designs and my favorite size is more of a lap quilt since I do my own quilting. Thank you for participating and sharing your talent with all of us!!
ReplyDeleteLap quilt size is the most fun for me.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size is queen. It is really a great size to wrap up in.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the lap size quilts lately. I can design and create the quilt in a matter of days rather than weeks or months. It gives me great joy to finish a project and start dreaming up the next.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for Josephine to hit my LQS!
My favorite quilts are queen sized. That way you can wrap up and snuggle in them with someone special. I love, love, love your fabrics and patterns. Actually, I'm just redecorating my sewing room and will be using your color palette as my inspiration.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size of quilt to make is a lap quilt. I'm a beginner and it's a easy size for me to handle.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day,
Leanne
Wow! I love your giant quilt block!
ReplyDeleteI like sizes that finishes quickly. I have a tendency to start a large project only to get sidetracked by something new I'd like to try. so I especially love your picnic blanket.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post about size! Love seeing your projects and thanks for the patterns. My favorite size is a lap quilt...I love to cuddle up on the couch to watch movies in a cuddle quilt! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteLove your block. A great block for a quick project I was just getting ready to work on. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI like your block, size does matter! I love making queen size quilts, all of my children have queen beds, so I know they like this size. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAny size is fine with me, if I like the quilt. Most of what I make are 50"x60" for Quilts of Honor...a great size for Vets and wounded back from the battlefield. We call them "quilted hugs of gratitude". And, yes,Quilts of Honor can always use more quilts.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size is 60 x 60. I hand quilt and that size is very manageable.
ReplyDeleteLove your BIG block. I make all size quilts from those little enough for a carriage to the queen sized one on my bed. Thanks for the block pattern and the giveaway .
ReplyDeleteSize does matter. Learned a few things in your post today, thanks. I prefer to work on a lap quilt , not so many swear words that way.lol
ReplyDeleteYour big block is wonderful. I love, love, love to make miniature quilts. Thanks for the chance on your giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love to make baby quilts - they are quick to make and always well-loved!
ReplyDeleteI just love making baby quilts, because they have lots of design possibilities, but are easier to quilt on my regular home machine.
ReplyDeleteMy fav is a lap quilt, count me in!
ReplyDeleteI love lap quilts, they are big enough to be useful but not so big that they are hard to work with!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size quilt really depends on the mood I am in at the moment. I love making mini's. I can see the end result so quickly. But, I also love making large quilts to give to the special people in my life.
ReplyDeleteMy perfect size is a lap quilt, to cover you up on a winter day on the sofa and read or watch tv in comfort!
ReplyDeleteFun big block! Stella seems to be enjoying her picnic :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! this is my first visit. I will be back! Thank you the pattern and for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI love making wall quilts! The size is small enough for me to machine quilt it, and large enough to make a nice statement!
ReplyDeleteLovin' the over sized quilt block! What a great take along blanket for the beach or a picnic.
ReplyDeleteI like lap quilts or full size quilts because I'm still new at this. Love your fabrics; can't wait to meet and greet Josephine. Thanks for the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI love lap size as I use a domestic machine for my quilting. I too struggle with design and that is why we have such wonderful designers such as you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all you do for the quilting world.
I like smaller or lap quilts. A more manageable size is more likely to be finished.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size is a lap quilt. Great to snuggle under when its cold outside.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, I love a big block! Thanks for your giveaway.
ReplyDeletesize indeed matters. i just finished a teeny tiny primitive gatherings quilt-it's so adorable! but now i will switch it up and make some big blocks. LOVE your picnic quilt!
ReplyDeleteAll the way with bed sized quilts for me. I may not get as many made but love each and every one of them. Hand stitched, hand quilted although I do have an online machine quilting class to take soon, maybe that will help me along!
ReplyDeletemy favorite size is a lap quilt, but it has to be 60inches in length, I have a few "tall" people at the house and want to make sure they cover their toes!
ReplyDeleteI like to work on smaller projects and have found a new love for miniatures lately---one can only have so many lap/bed size projects!
ReplyDeleteI usually make nothing bigger than lap size. Now my plans or the To Do list say bigger ones are in my future...only time will tell. Thank you so much for your beautiful designs.
ReplyDeleteAs a relatively new quilter, I am still trying to figure out the mix of size/scale in fabric selection. I tend to be drawn to the medium and tiny prints. I love your block!
ReplyDeleteI've made one bed-size quilt, several baby quilts - but mostly lap size. Your block is great!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of big blocks as they really showcase the fabrics and I love how yours has turned out.
ReplyDeleteWhile I would love to make large quilts I find I limit myself to lap quilts and single bed quilts for my son. I don't have the space to baste or quilt anything bigger. Thanks so much for the chance to win.
I actually like many sizes of quilts...the one I do the most of is a lap. LOVE the one with the dog on the picnic quilt...my great dane would take up all the quilt so I wouldn't get a picnic set. I think the size is just right for whom you are making the quilt for. thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI like all sizes of quilts from 12" to queen size, and they actually may vhave the same numberos pieces:)
ReplyDeleteFor some reason even if I start off making a lap size quilt I keep adding to it and it ends up being about 50X70, so that's must be my favorite. It's interesting to consider your points about the print sizes and how they need to work together.
ReplyDeleteI love making all sizes of quilts but especially baby quilts because I know how much they will be loved and snuggled with. Thank you for the opportunity to win!
ReplyDeleteTami
tamiquilts(at)att(dot)net
My favorite size quilt to make is a baby quilt...why you ask....because it means a grandchild is on the way!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a favorite size of quilt to make, I'd say it would depend on what strikes me at the time. Lately I've been working on a King size mainly because I recently bought a King size bed :) Thanks for the opportunity to win!
ReplyDeleteI don't really have 1 favorite size quilt to make. I like to mix it up a bit. After I finish a large quilt, I am definitely ready to take on a smaller project.
ReplyDeleteI love making all size quilts. Lap size are quick and a fun way to use up scraps and donate to charities. I love larger quilts for myself to wrap up in during our cold WI winters.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size quilt would me a throw size, easy for me to handle and they make great gifts. Most of my quilting projects are gifts.
ReplyDeleteLove the color in your big block! Nice blanket for my pets too!
ReplyDeleteSince size matters, I like to make different size projects...some big, some small! It just depends on the mood I am in, and if there is a specific reason for the project.
ReplyDeleteI love to make lap quilts. I can quilt them by hand with a big hoop.
ReplyDeleteLove all your fabric and would love to win some.
Thanks for the give away.
I like your big block. What a way to go to get a quilt done fast. I can't quilt a quilt larger then a lap, so I usually stay within that size. Thank you for sharing..
ReplyDeleteI like to make throw size quilts because they go faster, I'm not bored making the blocks by the time I have enough, and they are usable! :) Love your picnic quilt.
ReplyDeleteSandy A
I think your size on this block it great! I'm going to make a few as gifts! How cute!
ReplyDeleteThat is a fun picnic quilt block! I like making baby quilts because I can complete them quickly - love the feeling of accomplishment they bring!

ReplyDeleteYour story is too funny.....what a beautiful picnic quilt! As a new quilter I haven't made any big quilts yet so my favorite size is a lap quilt. Thank you for sharing! anglanouette at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI like to make a lap size quilt or smaller because it is easier for me to machine quilt that size - anything larger and I have to send it out. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteLove your picnic quilt! And it could even be finished quickly enough to use for a picnic in Minnesota before the weather turns too cold.
ReplyDeletesize does matter my son is 6" 10" tall and wears size 17 shoe. i make my quilts big enough to keep his toes warm. he would love a French General quilt. thanks donna fuller
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size is baby size because I can FMQ it on my home machine.
ReplyDeleteI always start of small and end up huge. And that's why I have a stack of unquilted tops!
ReplyDeleteThat is a hard question - I like and make them all! Right now I'm working on several large quilts.
ReplyDeleteI like lap quilts but because of all the cute fabrics out now, I also like baby quilts. Thanks for the pattern and the opportunity to be in the draw.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size of quilt to make is lap size; for a fabriholic like me I can make more quilts if they are lap quilts vs double or queen.
ReplyDeleteI love to make lap quilts. I get done a lot faster that way!
ReplyDeleteI love your big block and Stella looks great as your model ;) I like to make all sizes of quilts. Here lately, my favorite was a small quilt with 2" blocks. Thanks for the pattern. Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteKaren Wood
quilter51texas@yahoo.com
My favorite size quilt to make is actually a wallhanging. I love to be able to display a quilt on the wall to look at and admire!!
ReplyDeleteBig blocks make for quick quilts!!! I make mostly lap, wall quilts and runners these days. I do have a bed quilt for our bed in the making now though. I love bigger focal prints with smaller prints and tone on tones. most of your fabric lines are so very pretty and romantic! Saw some FG decor fabrics OMG!
ReplyDeleteLola
I prefer to make queen sized quilts for useability but I do enjoy making wall hangings too depending on the fabrics and pattern. I am working on a red/white quilt,a 3 Sisters Sampler quilt along with a pheasant wall hanging.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size is a lap quilt or a wall quilt - your big block would work in either. Love all the French General fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI do love large blocks that show off great prints, and yours would definitely do that. Love your designs! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe size of your block for an entire quilt is a good idea--I'll use it for a baby quilt. News of a little girl coming soon inspires me to quilt.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful French General designs!!
I like to make wall sized quilts. My attention span is so short, so big quilts are out of the question.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size is lap...but also doll sized! The new pattern will be great for perfecting those pesky flying geese...and I love the big block picnic blanket! Thanks for sharing with us all!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size is a baby quilt because it is usually fast. ILOVE the quick gratification I get from seeing a completed quilt.
ReplyDeletemy favorite size to quilt is one large enough to cover the top of our queen mattress. in our case, at least a 60x60 but more around a 70". this way, it's large enough to use on top of the bed, but not too large to use lying around the couch.
ReplyDeleteI seem to have migrated to lap quilts, although I have been making a few baby quilts lately.
ReplyDeleteI love your French garden inspired fabrics! The more the merrier, therefore I would prefer to make a larger quilt with your fabrics!
ReplyDeleteThank you
I love the Flying Geese Quilt and the fabrics used for it. My favorite size for quilts is a lap or double size.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size is lap. Faster and still big enough to wrap up in to watch TV or do handwork, or even around shoulders at the machine if into the energy saving mode :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size is lap quilt or a baby quilt . . . I love to celebrate the birth of a baby with a quilt and love lap sized quilts to snuggle while watching TV.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite size quilt to make and to give is baby or lap size. I've made a few king and queen size but, they're just to big for me to quilt on my DSM. Size does matter, I'm 4 11 I think good things come in small packages. I love your BIG block quilt it's the perfect size for so many things. ;->
ReplyDeleteI think I like to make baby quilts the most, babies are special!
ReplyDeleteI like to make wall hanging or lap quilts. They are easy to quilt on my sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteI've made so many bed size quilts that now I really enjoy baby quilts or table quilts to give as gifts.

ReplyDeleteI like small quilts usually (lap size usually) because I can get them done quicker. :D
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size quilts to make would be lap quilts or wall hangings. Any larger is difficult for me to manage in my small work space. Your new fabric line is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI like to alternate between small projects (laps, table toppers, hangings) and bed-size quilts. It's satisfying to have some quick finishes in between the monster projects.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt may be my next reading quilt. I love the simplicity! I love baby quilts. I love knowing that while baby is being rocked, my gift may be wrapped around baby and mom (or dad) in the middle of the night.
ReplyDeleteI prefer making lap quilts, though one day I hope to make a queen size quilt for our bed. Thanks for the pattern & the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite size would be a lap quilt. Not too big where I can't handle it in the sewing machine but big enough to wrap around a body! Thanks for a chance to win :)
ReplyDeleteWall quilts are my favorite right now, but I've enjoyed making quilts of all sizes. I like the idea of a huge block quilt.
