Here is our letter G that Jody designed and made into a little banner...someday we will make all of the letters so you can make a banner for your sewing room...but for now, it's just our letter G!
We designed four quilts for our new collection, Le Bouquet Francais. Each quilt was lovingly hand-sewn and quilted by our talented group of quilting ladies....I am always amazed when these quilts arrive and every one is more beautiful than the next...I hope you enjoy them!
Order any of our quilting patterns HERE
We also started a collaboration with a wonderful haberdashery and fabric store in Melbourne, Australia, called L'Uccello. L'Uccello has designed a wonderful set of sewing accessories using our fabric collection. Inside each pattern is a full size pattern that you can use to make up these lovely beauties.
I was introduced to L'Uccello by a mother-daughter team who come to France with us each summer...they own a lovely quilting shop (also in Australia!) called Hettie's Patch. I love it when the perfect opportunity happens and everyone comes together at just the right moment...that's what happened with L'Uccello....and we are looking forward to their upcoming Petite Patterns in the future!
Order our Petite Pattern with L'Uccello HERE
We also designed a special quilt kit that is only available through French General and only if you act fast...
Order our Bouquet Bleu Quilt Kit HERE
Thanks to Moda, I have a handful of giveaways to accompany this blog hop, as well as some cute fabric button bracelets, so go ahead and leave me a comment about your favorite new GADGET...I am always looking for the next big thing to help my sewing! **And finally....if you don't know Gere Kavanaugh...you should...she's one of my favorite people in Los Angeles!
How about the mechanical chalk pencil?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget right now has to be my Karen Kay Buckley's Small 4" Scissor. I just love this scissor.
ReplyDeleteIt has to be a chopstick as it's great when turning and pushing out points for applique pieces. Always have one in your tool box.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite new gadget is the aqua Olfa ruler. I love how easy it is to change the blades with this.
ReplyDeletehildy(at)ebertzeder(dot)de
Love my Ott light I received for Christmas. Now I can see what I am sewing!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is the threadcutter for traveling. I donot travel a lot, but when I do it is nice to hand piece! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite gadget is my new LED light pad. Now I don't need to tape drawings on the window to prepare my applique...and wait for day time to do it! Lol
ReplyDeleteL'ucello is my absolute favourite shop in Melbourne.:) I have purchased the pattern and made 2 of the needlecases for gifts.
Love all your fabrics and congratulations on your latest collection! :)
Honestly, my favorite gadget is my rotary cutter. I could NOT imagine how they did it in the earlier days with a pair of scissors and still made the most perfect quilts. What a time saver now!
ReplyDeleteMy most used gadget are my rotary cutters. I have 3 different sizes and two sorts but the one I use most is the 45mm Olfa with the blade that retracts automatically.
ReplyDeleteMy zip up pencil case - does that count as a gadget? - I always has scissors, thread, needles and a pair od reading glasses. I grab it wherever I am in the house or out and about and I am fully armed for my hand sewing projects.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is the rotary cutter by far. I grab it every day.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite new to me gadget is using applique glue. I also want to try using a small line of glue with piecing.
ReplyDeleteI love the Fons and Porter luma lighted needle threader. Can you tell I am of a certain age?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite and most used is my rotary cutter!
ReplyDeleteThey are new to me: Ecolux LED Light for your Sewing Machine. They are wonderful. The light bulbs in my sewing machine are impossible. Every time one went out, I had to have a repairman change it. The gadget to do that doesn't work. That became very expensive and annoying so, I bought the Ecolux and problem solved.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing your beautiful fabrics and new patterns. My favourite gadget is my magnetic pincushion, if I drop a pin or two I just wave it over the general area until it appears stuck to it. As I have to sew in the kitchen this is very useful with children and a dog around.
ReplyDeleteI've just bought a magnet and it's fabulous now just putting the pins down near where it is and they just shoot across to it!! Love it.
ReplyDeleteI have two favorite gadgets, my rotary cutter and magnetic pin "cushion". Love your fabrics!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite notion is the Perfect Piecing Seam Guide. Once I discovered it, my 1/4" seams started to be perfect and I became one happy quilter.
ReplyDeleteI like a wearable quilt magnet- that is in quilt block shapes- made in Iowa.
ReplyDeleteI like a wearable quilt magnet- that is in quilt block shapes- made in Iowa.
ReplyDeleteI love my sewline glue pen! I'm new to hand appliqué and it's my new best gadget!! Love it. I also love your fabrics and they are what I'm using in my appliqué quilt! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the remains of the day pattern. So cute
ReplyDeleteOne item I use to mark lines is painters tape. On my machine for the sewing lines. On the rulers and it's easy to remove.
ReplyDeleteMy most used gadget is my 1/4" quilting foot. That foot is on my machine most of the time. Thanks for the chance - love the patterns.
ReplyDeleteMagnetic pin cushion not sure thats the word for it but saves the pins from ending up on the floor.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite new gadget I haven't received yet but it's on order. It is something that helps clean my cutting mat. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteMy aqua olfa rotary cutter is my new best friend!
ReplyDeleteRight now I love my purple disappearing marking pen for machine quilting. Pure magic!
ReplyDeleteYour letter G is lovely and I'd love to see a whole alphabet in this style. However, I was hoping to get instructions for the block that will coordinate with the rest of the letters in this blog hop. At the bottom of your blog post you offer links to the pdf files but they all direct me to the letter "A". I'm really going to need that G. Please help. For the giveaway chance, my favorite new gadget is a quarter-inch foot for my sewing machine. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have the snippet trimmer on order. Can't wait to try it out
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is my curved scissors-sharp and very precise.
ReplyDeleteI've not purchased a new gadget in a bit - fabric seems to call my name these days. But a swap friend gave me a a real auto mechanic's tool - a slender "stick" with a magnet and light at one end. Mechanics use it to retrieve lost screws when working. I use it to locate and retrieve those pesky dropped pins.
ReplyDeleteIts not new, but new to me.. hair clips to help sew on binding! Takes strain off your hands! Love your fabric!
ReplyDeleteI love my aqua rotary cutter and Frixion pen.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a lot of specific quilters tools, but I love my mat and my rotary cutter. And always my thimble when I sew by hand.
ReplyDeleteBecause for the 1st time in 30 years I DID cut my left index finger with the rotary cutter, my new favorite gadget is the rotary-cutter-ruler combo with the cutter *attached* to the ruler. That way one can NOT cut one's finger! Also, the palm fits onto the cutter as opposed to the gripped hand so less wrist stress.
ReplyDeleteFrixion pens and thanks for the giveaway. Love your new fabric line.
ReplyDeleteA new gadget for me is the big stitch marking wheel. Looks really helpful.
ReplyDeleteI love my Olfa rotating cutting mat! It is wonderful for any small bits that need to be cut or trimmed. I found it invaluable while I made my Farmer's Wife Quilt and use it every time I have HST's to trim down. Worth every penny!
ReplyDeleteNew fabric line is GORGEOUS! I especially love the yellows.
Your G is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is not new. It is from the tool department at a big box store. A retractable magnet. Retracts to about the size of a ball point pen. But stretches out to about 24 inches long with a good magnet on the end. Great for retrieving dropped pins etc.
My favorite notion would have to be waxed paper. It's so versatile. Love it for applique, love it for templates, love it for keeping fudge from sticking together! HA!
ReplyDeleteNot necessarily my favorite gadget but probably my most used through the years would be the dreaded seam ripper. :) I absolutely LOVE your fabric lines and quilt designs! I'm jus so in love with your Bouquet Blue Quilt Kit!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is the walking foot!
ReplyDeletelegendarymomma@yahoo.com
My favorite new gadget is a massage ball. Works wonders on tight neck, shoulder, arm and hand muscles that tighten up when I sew.
ReplyDeletesenstrings (at) yahoo {dot} com
My favorite gadget is my Wiss snips that I keep at my machine and use to trim thread. Love them.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite gadgets are my clover wonder clips, so much quicker and easier than pins for many sewing jobs.
ReplyDeleteI love a great seam ripper (un-sewer) and the new clover wonder clips are amazing too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!!
b.
There is nothing better than my left-handed scissors. I used to have blisters all the time from trying to use right-handed ones.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite new gadget is a tool that makes 4 flying geese at once and they turn out perfectly, I love flying geese and it makes my job so much easier. Love your new fabric line.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is my curved tipped snipps and pointed tip tweezers. Love your fabric!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have many sewing gadgets, so I guess I'd have to go with my rotary cutter.
ReplyDeleteI love the little Wonder clips they have so many uses.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tool is my rotary cutter.
ReplyDeleteI love my ergonomic seam ripper. We all have to do it and this makes it easier!
ReplyDeleteMy newest gadget is a long metal skewer. I use it to lift the fabric when pin basting on the dining room table so the pins don't stick the table. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI love my magnetic pin cushion, and I don't know why I haven't bought one earlier. It makes it so easy to remove pins as I am sewing a seam. Whoosh! The pins are attracted to and clamped securely onto the pincushion, and I am not flailing around trying to stab into a traditional pincushion. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried the new binding clips yet, but they look very promising. I will probably be convinced after I bind a couple more quilts and poke myself with pins. No matter how careful I am, that always happens.
Love French General fabric!!
I have a 2.5 hst ruler that I love! Jmh
ReplyDeleteMy favorite "new " gadget is my FriXion pen because it comes in all different colors for different fabrics and disappears with heat. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteMy Ecolux Led Lights. I have two machines and have one for each. I could not believe how much of a difference they made, i can see!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite new gadget is the Martelli ruler and mat. I love how the ruler actually stays in place without alot of pressure, it certainly has made my cuts much more accurate.
ReplyDeleteMy magnifying Glasses! That starts with G! By the way I can't find the instructons for the block letter G, please advise....Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tool is the Olfa rotary cutter.
ReplyDeleteI have an unhealthy passion for rulers! All sizes and shapes- even rulers for things I don't know how to do- makes no difference!
ReplyDeleteI love my new strip of LED lights that sticks to the bottom of the arm of the sewing machine. Let there be light!
ReplyDeletegigiv13@gmail.com
How about a rug hook? I recently attended Charlotte Lyon and Meleen Dupre' Vermont Getaway. We learned about rug hooking. My new gadget is a rug hook.
ReplyDeleteI just love your new fabric line. I just ordered charm squares and can't wait to get them. I know I will be ordering much more of this line. I collect blue and white china , and they toile print is a must. I will be getting some yardage of that one for sure. Such a beautiful line. I just ordered a bloc loc ruler for half square triangles. I can't wait to get it. I know that's going to be a favorite gadget for me. You put it over the sewn hst and it locks the seam in place , so no slipping while trimming block down to size .. Thanks for all the eye candy.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget of late is my Dresden ruler. Having a lot of fun with that!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tool is my scissor that I hang from a lanyard that goes around my neck. Never have to search for them. Your new patterns are fabulous! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love my new (to me) seam ripper by clover. I was using an old dritz and it was a trial. This thing is simply amazing.
ReplyDeleteI just bought an Angler 2 and so far it's helped me improve my piecing.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any new gadgets, but the responses so far have me wanting to run to the store! I use a knitting needle to turn my corners. Love your new line, thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite tool is a plain old disappearing ink quilt marker. I was too scared to use these before, because I was afraid the marks wouldn't come off like they said they would. What a relief! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite new gadget is a new Ott light I treated myself to. Prior I had one of the original Ott lights, did not realize how much they've improved!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is my light box that my brother made me. Great for paper piecing!
ReplyDeleteKathy Davis
kdavis1@centurytel.net
My OTT light!
ReplyDeletelori
Grace is my favorite word so I really like the G banner
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget that I got for Christmas is a seam ripper with a light...I use it A LOT!!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought a new gadget for a long time. I do love my binding clips.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what this is called, but my favorite gadget is used for cutting strips accurately. You lay it over the fabric (which is on a cutting mat) and use your rotary cutter along the grooves. Perfect strips everytime!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite new-er gadget are my Karen Kay Buckley scissors. I LOVE those things... especially for applique!
ReplyDeleteCould you please let me know where I can find the pieced instructions for the letter G? I love your appliquéd banner but I really want the pieced one too... Thanks!
My favorite new gadget is the Dresden ruler. This ruler makes the cutting quick and easy! Such a fun, easy block to make!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoying this alphabet game. I like the diff rulers for easy measuring. Jan
ReplyDeleteI love the new perfect clips. they are so great for bindings and corners and holding blocks in a row together and many other things. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite new gadget is "new to me". It is the Shape Plus strip cut ruler. It is the neatest thing since sliced bread...in fact, it is kinda like slicing bread! SO easy to make perfect strips SO quickly since you do not have to keep moving the ruler and realigning. LOVE IT!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite new gadget are the Frixion pens by Pilot. Great for marking embroidery and the ink disappears upon ironing. Thanks for the opportunity to win your giveaway and the awesome letter banner!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite new gadget is a freebie ruler I got at quilt market a few years ago from Olfa. I "found" it a few weeks ago in a drawer. It's only 1 1/2" wide and 12" long but is perfect for cutting half square triangles in half. Just long enough not to be bulky like my 6 1/2 x 24.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tool is my quarter inch ruler. I use it all the time for marking my half triangles and makes sewing quilts and piecing, so much easier for me.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Rotary cutter and mat are my favorite gadgets,is so easy cut fabrics with them.
ReplyDeleteI love your "G" instructions but, I need the Moda "G" for my pattern collection, please. My favorite tool is a rotary cutter. Thanks, Sherry
ReplyDeleteWhere is the G that goes with the rest of the alphabet in the series. Thanks
ReplyDeleteMy latest "gadget" is my Oliso iron. It pops up when no being used (so that it won't scorch your fabric) and it has an automatic shut off after a certain time when not being used. Love your fabrics and thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Love your new collection -- just so yummy! My favorite new sewing gadget is the fusible bias tape maker. I have a project that needed 1/4" finished bias strips for vines and the bias tape maker made this job SO much easier.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite gadget is my magnetic pin tray. My cat is now safe to pad around the house when my sewing machine is out! Thanks for hosting the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteGlasses, the magnifying clip down kind to help in threading a needle in the evening. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI really have grown to love my new glue pen for prepping paper pieces. Your new line is beautiful as usual! Thank you for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteMary
When it comes to quilting I adore my rotary cutter-well I guess that is more for the patchwork stage of the quilting process!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is my little binding clips from clover, when binding a quilt they are so much better than pins poking you all over....
ReplyDeleteI love this fabric, it is so calming, reminds me of the calming shores of Lake Michigan where I grew up.
Jodi
mtnfamily2013@yahoo.com
One of my favorite discoveries are the Frixion pens, great for marking half square triangles.
ReplyDeleteI have a tube of machine oil with a needle for the spout --- allows me to put a "drop" in hard to reach places on my featherweight. I had a machine tech (male) that told me women think, if one drop of oil is good, then many are even better.
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought any new gadgets in I don't know how long so have nothing to recommend. Thanks for the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI was given a Quilter's Magic Wand which helps in marking half square triangles. I love it because it's so useful, but because it was a heartfelt gift from a new group I joined.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is my seem ripper that has a clear base and it slides over a pen light
ReplyDeleteNo new gadgets, just my still favorite Olfa 12 inch rotating mat.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness ... how do I pick just one? I love gadgets. The good thing is that most of the ones that I pick up at quilt shows and stores actually turn out to be good investments! Someone else said Wonder Clips (can you believe some people still use straight pins?) and a couple of people said Frixion pens (love that you can find them in so many stores). So I guess I'll say the June Tailor slotted rulers that you can get at places like JoAnn Fabrics. I know it's not an indy quilt store, but the slotted rulers make such quick work of getting fabric cut quickly and accurately so that you can get on with the sewing! I have all of the different sizes, including the specialty one for cutting Dresden Plate blades and the one meant for squaring up HST's and QST's. Wish more people would try them.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is my rotary cutter. When I was just starting I used scissors and nothing was straight! My rotary cutter is a MUST!
ReplyDeleteMy newest favorite gadget is the Altos Quilt Cut II. It was expensive but worth every penny! It has increased my cutting speed and accuracy. Love the new line and the new patterns. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
ReplyDeleteAnyone who wears glasses will surely love this gadget - a seam ripper with an attached magnifying glass and light. Michaels and Joanns carry them, I believe.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte S.
My Machinger gloves - couldn't quilt without them
ReplyDeleteI am not much of a gadget girl...but, love my rotary cutter, my new seam ripper, a little porcupine bobbin holder...and scissors galore! Love your fabric lines...so pretty!
ReplyDeleteBinding clips are such a help when doing a binding.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if this is really consider a gadget, but my most helpful tool when machine piecing is my Ott light....and of course, my glasses, ha ha.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering, your letter doesn't look like the others in the series...is there a G block that goes along with the hop?
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I have any new tool, but I think that I really like the clover clips...they help my hands not to cramp when I'm sewing down a binding. Thanks for a chance to win your giveaway.
I recently purchased a *Seam-Fix Seam Ripper/Thread Remover Tool* at my LQS. It has a ridged rubber tip for removing those tiny bits of threads from a seam when you've had to do a bit of *reverse* sewing! And it comes in great colors too! LOVE your new fabric & patterns, especially the one utilizing drunkards path blocks!!
ReplyDeleteIt isn't new to me, but my favorite gadget and best friend when quilting is my seam ripper. Really like the Clover one because of the design of the handle on these arthritic hands of mine. There are so many wonderful gadgets out there that I use!!
ReplyDeleteYour new fabric line is beautiful as always, and the new patterns are great too.
I don't have a favorite gadget but the Ott light and Rotary cutter get used a good bit.
ReplyDeleteI love using the little red clips!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
My favourite gadget these days is my June Tailor Strip cutter - I can cut strips of any size quickly and accurately! Love your fabric and patterns!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is a 2-1/2" x
ReplyDelete6-1/2" ruler I picked up at my local quilt shop. I believe it is made by Creative Grids. Love it!
I really love my seam fix seam ripper, it works great, although I would prefer not to use it!
ReplyDeleteMy newest gadget are my Kai 4" embroidery scissors. Sharp!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is a pincushion thread catcher made from a purchased pattern on Etsy. Saves space on my small sewing table and does double duty. I made mine to match my candy-apple red Singer Featherweight!
ReplyDeleteyour new line is lovely! and the patterns really showcase the fabric. i'm enjoying the blog hop and would love to win a prize. my favorite new gadget is a triangle ruler.
ReplyDeleteI love my Go Accuquilt cutter, not sure it is really a gadget, just a great tool.
ReplyDeleteGeneral's charcoal pencils....not new but not widely used as quilt marking pencils....highly recommended by noted instructors. The lines from these pencils are easily removed with an eraser, the points are easily sharpened and they are easy to find at Joann's or Michael's in the art supply sections.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Moda's letter G? Your link went to the letter A. Thanks for the banner instructions.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite gadget? My rotary cutter with a new blade.
My new favorite gadget is my rotating cutting mat. Makes it so much easier!! Love the new fabric, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy new favorite gadget is my rotating cutting mat. Makes it so much easier!! Love the new fabric, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win. My "new" gadget, as I just got back into quilting in October is my Seamfix seam ripper. It has a rubber top to catch and pull the threads out. Love it when I need it, makes easy work.
ReplyDeleteI don't have and new gadgets but I will look at the comments and see if anything catches my eye.
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite sewing room toy isn't new, it's old...I've been having fun playing with piecing on my treadle machine. As for gadgets, I'm at the age where needle threaders are looking better all the time! pbstrand@msn.com
ReplyDeletemy gadget is a spool holder! yippee!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite new gadget has got to be my hexagon plus ruler! It's great for cutting hexagons, triangles, and gems!
ReplyDeleteI love my frixion pen to make markings! It's a pen whose ink will disappear with heat! on paper I usually rub it with eraser, the friction creates heat. But ironing seams on fabric... Voila, the markings are gone! I guess it might be good or bad depending if you might still need the markings or not.
ReplyDeletepramuditahandaristi at gmail dot com
My favorite new (to me) gadget is my lighted-edge Quilter's SlideLock that holds the fabric steady while I cut with my rotary cutter - and keeps my fingers out of harm's way!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt patterns are absolutely lovely!
Am I being crazy or is there not a PDF for the G that moda designed? I can't find it!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite gadget.... Not sure it counts as a gadget but I love best press. Love love love it.
Aejclarke@gmail.com
My favorite gadget is Clovers 45 rotary cutter!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is my stilleto. Can't sew without it!
ReplyDeleteBy far my favorite new tool is the Seam Fix seam ripper. It is especially useful when ripping out stitches at the longarm.
ReplyDeleteI've found that I need more light and I bought the Ott light - Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteMy new used Pfaff Hobby Quilter came with a screw in seam quidde. First time I've used one. My blocks are much more accurate

ReplyDeleteladyasheril@hotmail.com

ReplyDeleteAlso, I too am hoping you put together a G block pattern to match the other alphabet blocks... did you? If not, I'll just make up my own! (your applique block is lovely though)
- sunshdws at yahoo dot com
I'm not much of a gadget person, and haven't purchased anything recently. However, of the gadgets I do have, I would never be without my seam ripper. Not only is it good for ripping out seams, but I also find it invaluable for holding my fabric when sewing pieces together.
ReplyDeleteI don't buy many gadgets but I love my 2.5" wide Creative grids ruler which is 18.5" long too. Great for strip cutting.
ReplyDeleteRotary cutter!
ReplyDeleteI can sew for hours sitting on my purple GENIE SIT-UPON!

Changes to:
