Moda Holiday Blog Hop

It's that time of the year - lot's of red (my favorite!), holiday cheer and some fun from Moda! Today is the third day of the Moda Holiday Blog Hop and it's our day - as well as a few other friends! We've got one of our favorite holiday recipes, a block pattern and a wonderful holiday give-away on this exciting day!
I usually get all uncreative at this time of the year. I think I've worked with so many beads, buttons, fabric swatches and paper embellishments...that I burn out. I used to really dread it - but now I kinda like it - it feels like my August. Everyone has an August - that time of the year when you get to relax before it all starts up again. But the funny, is that it's the busiest time of the year - so I am trying to relax while all this energy in me knows there is so much to do...so much to get done...the holidays are here!

Some of my favorite holiday inspirations....

Fresh Herbs Tied up with Ribbon
(photo from Homestead Gardens)

Peppermint Hot Chocolate
(photo from Erza Pound Cake)

Creatively Wrapped Packages
(photo from Style Me Pretty)

Homemade Anything
(photo from Food Network)

Speaking about food...cause really...isn't that what we all love about the holidays?! Here is one of my favorite holiday recipes - the classic French Crepe! Crepes can be filled with anything from fruit or simple powdered sugar and lemon - and served for breakfast or dessert.
Inspired by the crepes, Moda has helped us design a block to go along with our recipe:

French General Crepes

How about a holiday giveaway - just to keep things fun! Leave us a message about your favorite holiday inspiration....and we'll choose a couple of lucky winners to receive a box of holiday fabric from French General and Moda - a bundle of our classic reds, a bundle of old greens and a bundle of winter whites - just in time to start another holiday quilt or a stocking or two!

And be sure to follow the Moda Holiday Blog Hop the rest of the week:

Today

Tomorrow

I am inspired by antique postcards, rich colors, and a variety of textures. Somehow it seems like my creative thoughts always turns to stockings this time of year, maybe because they remind me of the joys of giving and receiving.

My inspiration comes from the Christmas and holiday decorations that we have compiled and collected as a family over the years. I don't take out the same decorations every year -- I go through our collection and pull out the ones that inspire me at that very moment! That way we don't end up with alot of clutter -- instead we can enjoy our memories attached to each decoration. :-)

I love to walk into a store and see all the Christmas trees. There is a particularly cute independent garden shop not far from our house that turns into a Christmas fairy land.

My inspiration comes from my Mom who is no longer with us. She was always the festive type, and I try to carry it down the line. Between my sister and I we try to keep the holiday traditions going.

Music gets me going for the Christmas season. I have a special box of Christmas CDs that comes out the day after Thanksgiving and I play all my favorites for the month. I often time working on a project with a CD - once the CD is over I need to get up and do something else - gets my legs stretched and gets me revitalized for the final steps of the Christmas planning!

my inspiration is the best gift we have been given (grandchildren). Four of eight grandchildren will spend the night Friday. I'm hustling to get all the decorations up. I love to see their little faces when they first come in the house at Christmas. Lots of laughing, ooing, and ahhhing. They want me to tell them the stories of the ornaments on my tree. (like your daddy made that ornament when he was in 2nd grade), etc.

Of course they also want to shake the presents Nanny and Poppy have for them.

it's amazing that they can spend several hours laying on the floor quietly while the Christmas train goes round and round under the tree.

The joy experienced by children always inspires me. And traditional Christmas carols and hymns - we listen while decorating, writing cards to send, wrapping gifts, etc.

Thanks for the recipe and the block pattern and thanks for sharing your wonderful fabric!!

Thanks for the chance to win some yummy fabric. I would say my holiday inspiration would come from chocolate: buche, truffes etc.

My holiday inspiration is the Lords gorgeous nature! Everything from the weather change to migrating birds I only see this time of year! Soft wind on my face, different clouds moving overhead, and the cooler temperature. Which means :) I now pull-out my homemade quilts; make new & differnt table runners or place mats for us & family. And like you, the hot mug I'm holding with a warm winter beverage inside. Yummy....and new fabrics to touch & admire :)

My family is my inspiration. I love to make things for them and try to see the joy in their faces in the gifts I give, the food I bring to the table, and the music I put on the player. Everything I do is for them.

I have to say music is my big inspiration this time of year! Most of the carols we listen to are whimsical and fun which is how we decorate this time of year. Thanks for the chance!

My inspiration comes from Christmas' past. I love anything and everything vintage. Lately I've been doing alot of paper crafts using vintage graphics.

My holiday inspiration is when the stuff starts coming out in stores. Of course I don't pay it any attention until the day after Halloween at the earliest, but it definitely gets the wheels a turnin!

To get inspired for the season, I like to look at pictures from past Christmas's-not only is it fun but it helps me remember where I put all the decorations!!
thank you for the giveaway chance.

The Christmas season inspires me. My favorite quilts are Christmas themed.
I have a house full of them, but I just can't get enough. I'm always planning the next one. The process of making them brings me so much joy throughout the year.

For me, seeing the joy and excitement on the kids' faces is inspirational to me. It reminds me of when I was a kid, and the sense of awe and excitement that I used to feel about the holidays.

Thanks so much! Your crepe recipe looks great!

I am inspired by many things this time of year: music, photos, generosity of strangers, blogs online, the weather. The ideas sparkle down like snow, unexpected and bright. :) Thank you for the giveaway!

My most inspirational item is my nativity set. I love putting it out and will love sharing it with my grandson by telling him the story of why Christmas is so important. With the frost on the outside, it is warm on the inside where I know the Birth of Our Lord is what is most important. Thank you also for the give-away. Merry Christmas.

My Christmas inspiration has to be the BEAUTIFuL Northwest where I live. The amazing evergreen forests, the slate gray winter sea, and the fabulous snow-capped peaks all work their way into my quilts.

I'm inspired by kitchy retro holiday decorations like stuffed Christmas trees, faux-patchwork stuffed ornaments, wooden toy ornaments, and as always, owls. Thanks for the great giveaway!
